activities center around five different categories:

1. performance
2. cultural exchange
3. instruction/education
4. language/composition
5. motion/dance therapy
Because of our organization is very new, these programs are in various stages of development and are discussed based on level of current activity.
PERFORMANCE:
Our goal in this activity area is to facilitate performance of music that soothes.  Our current methodology is to use two groups, Ho'omalie (Zanuck Lindsey, Lopaka Hoopi'i, John Enos, Kimo Hussey)and Lo'ea(Lopaka Hoopi'i, Ivan Hoopi'i, Clarence Brown, Kalei Davis).  A primary means of performance is through community service (hospitals, care homes, senior centers, etc.)  We actively solicit other musical groups/organizations to help us spread the values of soothing music.  All our groups subscribe to our mission statement (facilitate music that soothes) and rehearse and perform accordingly.  Our intent is to use the music we perform to attract other groups and musicians to our organization and embrace membership.  Through our instruction and educational program, we are able to teach necessary disciplines to support our mission.  Ho'omalie is one month away from completing its first CD, produced by Zanuck Lindsey and our budding production/record label company.  Though Ho'omalie is the core group (the CD is titled, Only You),  we have invited numerous musicians, instrumentalists as well as solo vocalists, to participate with us to demonstrate our capability in teaching others to perform our style of music.  In addition, we also build a meaningful cadre of various musicians who help us produce music on an on-going basis.  We also have a very active ukulele program headed by Kimo Hussey.
CULTURAL EXCHANGE
Pacific Music Foundation embraces the State of Hawaii's concept of cultural exchange, which is to promote/preserve Hawaii's culture beyond our shorelines.  Our organization is very active in WORLDWIDE cultural exchange.  We recently returned from a trip to Alaska to help the City of Anchorage celebrate the fourth of July.  While there, we interfaced heavily with the Hawaiian community and provided concerts, workshops and lots of wonderful fellowship.  Feedback from the Hawaiian community was to continue these exchanges and grow this program as well.  We've received referrals to continue this program in Washington State and Utah.  Alaska has also asked Pacific Music Foundation to return on a continuing basis.  We have also traveled to California (Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, Encinitas, San Diego), Indiana and North Carolina to do workshops and concerts.  In July, 2005, Pacific Music Foundation was invited to accompany Hawaii's Governor and a contingent of business and community leaders to China to facilitate development of business and cultural exchange programs.  Our representatives, John Enos and Greg Pelayre, returned brimming with ideas and contacts to help Hawaii achieve its goals.  The exchange program with China will provide Pacific Music Foundation several opportunities for meaningful growth.  Through partnership with Dr. Reiner Haus, a noted music therapist and motion therapy expert renowned for his work in Germany and Latvia, we are planning for music and dance therapy exchanges with Europe.  The first of these will come in 2007.
INSTRUCTION/EDUCATION:
Accountable instruction and education is the backbone of any outstanding music program.  Our instruction program is able to address any instrumental, vocal or production (arranging, composition, recording) aspect of music we do, including teaching.  The music we perform is the testament to our instructional capabilities as ALL of our music grew out of our instruction.  We have personnel who have degrees in music and music education, plus our levels of performance experience go from Hawaiian to classical, including all styles in between.  As our school systems experience still-declining monies devoted to education in the arts, we work toward programs designed to take music instruction/participation into our schools.
MUSIC/DANCE THERAPY:
Through referral to Sounding Joy Music Therapy Inc., we are able to facilitate treatment in clinical music therapy.  We have embraced some disciplines learned from music therapy and use these techniques in the performance and instruction of our music.  Through our association with Dr. Reiner Haus, we have become aware of a growing body of knowledge which addresses music and motion therapy through dance.  We are actively pursuing a partnership with Dr. Haus and his European partners as we feel adding motion therapy to Pacific Music Foundation services would nicely enhance the continuing development of hula.  Our foundation is also interested in developing enough interest in the study of clinical music therapy to eventually support development of a degree program in Hawaii.  There are currently 70 universities on the mainland which offer degree programs in music therapy.  Why not Hawaii?
LANGUAGE, POETRY, MUSIC COMPOSITION:
Pacific Music Foundation will be developing a program in teaching the Hawaiian language with an emphasis in poetry.  In addition to developing further interest in the study of Hawaiian, we will use the resultant poetry to facilitate music compositions to add to the growing body of original Hawaiian music.
