Welcome to the Pacific Music Foundation |
|
The Pacific Music Foundation was started in 2004 with a single premise that became our mission statement: FACILITATE MUSIC THAT SOOTHES.
Music's capability to produce a sense of calm and tranquility has fascinated me for decades and finally in 2003, after becoming familiar with the work of Dr. Arthur Harvey, America's treasure in the field of using music to promote good health, my fuzzy big picture was upgraded with very clear definition.
Zanuck Lindsey, Lopaka Ho'opii, John Enos and I formed a vocal quartet to practice and effect those principles of music production and music therapy we wanted to synchronize. How easy it was to use Hawaiian music and choose the name Ho'omalie (to soothe) as it represented not only our group but the concept for which the four of us founded Pacific Music Foundation.
The results of our work have been astonishing, not because we're the ones doing the music and instruction, but because we've learned to follow the appropriate rules and develop the right disciplines. I think Zanuck says it best, "The rewards have been profound. It's always been our contention that we, the musicians, are merely the vessels for this music and when ego and human agenda are removed from the equation, the music will stand alone in its purest and most beautiful form."
We've been on concert stages in Hawaii and globally, as we have sung in hospitals, care homes, senior centers, retirement communities, churches, schools, public libraries, universities as well as various music clubs all to support the premise that music soothes. It does!!
Our audience/customer is YOU, your friends and families, their friends and families, your neighbors and their neighbors, acquaintances here or anywhere in the world we can go (we've been and will continue to go), fellow musicians and musical groups, schools, churches, etc., etc., etc.
In order for Pacific Music Foundation to grow and prosper, we need YOU ----- to help us sing, teach, administer, recruit, fund, counsel, etc.,etc., etc. Our staff's current collective experience is we're musically degreed, recorded, and published. Our professional music experience is global and includes several musical genre. Our collective instructional experience exceeds 50 years.
